Electromechanical / Mechatronics Technician

The Electromechanical / Mechatronics Technician is responsible for the planning, maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of custom robotics and production equipment, ensuring equipment reliability and production uptime.

Responsibilities

Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all printing presses, slitters, and related production equipment, including custom machinery and robotics
Perform structured diagnostics to identify root causes of mechanical, electrical, and software failures
Respond to equipment downtime events with urgency, clear troubleshooting methodology, and effective resolution
Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, repairs, failure modes, and corrective actions
Develop, execute, and continuously improve preventative maintenance schedules in coordination with the Production Team
Identify recurring issues and implement corrective actions to improve uptime, reliability, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
Recommend equipment modifications, upgrades, and process improvements based on observed performance and failure patterns
Execute machine builds, upgrades, and retrofits by following engineering drawings, build instructions, wiring diagrams, and assembly documentation
Collaborate closely with Engineers to provide feedback on build feasibility, serviceability, and long-term maintainability
Assist with commissioning, testing, and validation of new equipment and process changes before full production rollout
Own quality issues related to equipment performance and maintenance activities
Ensure machines operate within defined quality standards and production tolerances
Partner with QA and Production teams to resolve quality defects tied to mechanical or process issues
Train operators and technicians on proper equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and early issue detection
Provide technical leadership during complex repairs and equipment interventions
Support the development of standardized maintenance and troubleshooting procedures
Identify and manage external vendors for electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and machining support as needed
Source parts and materials with a focus on reliability, lead time, and cost effectiveness
Maintain an organized inventory of critical spare parts to minimize downtime
Communicate clearly with Production, Engineering, QA, and Leadership regarding equipment status, risks, and improvement opportunities
Uphold health, safety, and fire safety standards within the production environment
Contribute positively to a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement

Required

5+ years of hands-on maintenance experience with printing equipment, automation, or related industrial machinery with heavy focus on diagnostics (e.g. printing, automotive, etc)
College degree or equivalent professional experience in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance
Comfortable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and software
Ability to read and execute from engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and build instructions
Experience working in a production environment where uptime and quality are critical
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Comfortable using task management and communication tools (e.g., Asana, Trello, Slack, Microsoft Teams)
Clear communicator able to work cross-functionally with Engineers, Operators, QA, and Leadership
