Demand Side Management Engineer

Responsibilities

Research, evaluate, and perform technical and economic analysis on energy efficiency technologies, projects and programs considering customer experience and impact
Perform computer-related functions such as engineering analysis, spreadsheet development, utilization and manipulation, and database compilations
Evaluate both high-level program implications and detailed project-level factors, including accounting reviews, cost-effectiveness analysis, and market strategies
Compile and write technical reports
Provide input on program planning, design, acquisition targets, and budgets for DSM/USB projects and programs
Maintain accurate DSM/USB program records, databases, and documentation
Function as either a primary or supporting contact for DSM/USB programs
Interact with and provide information to NorthWestern Energy's external technical advisory committees and other parties as necessary
Develop and manage requests for proposals, evaluate bids and negotiate contracts, and manage contractor performance
Monitor program performance relative to established acquisition targets and budgets
Support the development of DSM/USB regulatory filings
Other duties as assigned

Required

Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record
Bachelor's degree in engineering required
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Flexible and proactive, able to adapt to changing priorities, and committed to consistently providing excellent customer service
Good working knowledge of economic analysis and energy-related concepts and calculations
Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record
Demonstrate experience with Microsoft Office Package (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.)

Preferred

Current Professional Engineer's License or ability to obtain one
An interest in mechanical work and/or relevant experience
General understanding of natural gas and electric utility systems
Familiarity with underlying concepts as well as challenges associated with utility-operated DSM programs
Knowledge of current Montana building codes
Working knowledge and experience in construction and design
Working knowledge and experience with residential and commercial lighting, heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment design, installation, and maintenance
