Facilities Mechanic 1st Shift (onsite)

They are seeking a Facilities Mechanic to perform mechanical work necessary for the installation, maintenance, and repair of facilities systems and equipment, with a focus on piping and related trades.

Responsibilities
Perform the mechanical work necessary to install, overhaul, maintain, alter and repair facilities systems and equipment including construction with focus on pumping, piping and systems related to the pipefitting trade and perform associated duties, including welding and rigging, throughout the plant as assigned
Under direction of Leader/Supervisor follow specific instructions and standard trade practices to obtain tools, material and equipment for carrying out work assignments on piping systems, control devices and related equipment
Perform component installation, system maintenance and repair work as assigned and carry out preventive maintenance and service as required
Assist others responsible for complex installation, overhaul and repair projects in preparing materials and operating equipment
Perform similar duties throughout the facility within the scope and skill level of this job description. Assist other trades working on joint projects where common skill crossover provides the opportunity for shared responsibilities and more effective use of available skills
Refer difficulties to leader/supervisor. May be assigned to carry out tasks, not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description in support of department objectives and to develop individuals' skills
May be required to train for, obtain and maintain licenses, operator permits and certifications within the trade specialization
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Requires comprehensive knowledge of pipefitting, including methods of installing domestic and industrial water, steam, and gas systems, proper use of nonmetallic pipe, layout techniques, tools, machines, equipment, and materials used in the trade, and some knowledge of carpentry and mechanical mechanisms. Read drawings and use mathematics, principally geometry
1 – 2 years of trades training
Preferred
P-2 or P-1 CT State Plumbing License
2+ years of plumbing experience within industrial/commercial/manufacturing
In compliance with the collective bargaining agreement, priority consideration is given to candidates who are INTERNAL (and recall) to the Pratt & Whitney IAM Bargaining Unit members of District Lodge 26 and Affiliated Locals 700 and 1746 (Connecticut Operations)
