Deputy I, II, or Senior Deputy DOQ - Prosecuting Attorney
Whatcom County's Prosecuting Attorney is currently recruiting for a Deputy I, II, or Senior Deputy depending on qualifications to fill a key role in the department. The role involves representing the interests of the State of Washington in legal actions, including difficult criminal prosecutions of adults for felony offenses such as sexual assault and domestic violence.

Responsibilities
Represent the interests of the State of Washington in legal actions commencing with the pre-filing, investigative stage and continuing through the post-filing litigation process
Case assignment may include difficult criminal prosecutions of adults for felony offenses, including: sexual assault, domestic violence, and major crimes
Qualification
Required
Must be a current member in good standing of the Washington State Bar Association; OR must be a current member in good standing of another State Bar Association AND must become a member of the Washington State Bar Association by passing the Washington State Bar exam within one year from date of hire; OR be eligible to be admitted to practice with a limited license under APR Rule 9 AND pass the Bar within 1 year from date of hire
Must have a driving record that meets County standards and possess a valid driver's license at time of hire and throughout employment
Background check must meet Elected Prosecutor's criteria
Required to successfully complete all continuing legal education requirements as mandated by the Washington State Bar Association, which includes 13 hours general and 2 hours of ethics credits per year throughout employment
Preferred
Trial experience in criminal law is preferred
Spanish language fluency is desired
