Responsibilities

Assume full administrative responsibility for respiratory care services throughout the hospital in the absence of the Director of Respiratory Care Services

Evaluate respiratory services performed by Respiratory Therapy Department personnel to ensure quality of services provided

Plans, assigns, reviews, and evaluates the work of Supervising Respiratory Care Practitioners, Respiratory Care Practitioners, Respiratory Therapists and other support staff as assigned; counsels staff regarding conduct, attendance and other related matters; provides input for disciplinary actions

Recommends and justifies new staffing patterns, policy and procedures, equipment and supplies

Oversight of outpatient services, procedural/diagnostic areas, and clinical support management

Fiscal and budgetary responsibilities as assigned

Required

Must possess and maintain a current Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the California State Respiratory Care Board

Must possess and maintain a Registered Respiratory Therapist credential issued by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC)

Must possess and maintain ALL of the following certifications: Healthcare Provider level Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Two (2) years of supervisory Respiratory Therapy experience which included directing, assigning and evaluating of the work of Respiratory Care staff
