Operations and Maintenance Technician II - Machinist

Responsibilities
You’ll be working in one of Metropolitan’s machine shops, using your mechanical skills and expertise to fabricate, repair, and restore components that keep critical systems operating reliably across multiple facilities
The work will consist of using a full range of machine shop tools and equipment from precision measuring instruments to heavy-duty machinery, supporting planned maintenance, urgent repairs, and custom fabrication projects
Perform detailed inspections and preventative maintenance to extend equipment life and prevent downtime
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency in addition to a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a large industrial machine shop using CNC and/or manual machines
High school diploma or certificate of high school equivalency and attainment of skills through a recognized machinist trade training program and/or applicable related experience within an industrial environment
Experience and knowledge as demonstrated by practical application of general techniques and practices specific to the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of machining equipment
Valid Drivers license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class C Certification (required at the time of application)

Manlift Certification

Demonstrated mechanical and machining experience
Experience bringing equipment back to life and working with a wide range of machine shop tools and equipment
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment
Strong attention to detail
Collaborative work ethic
Ability to creatively solve machining related challenges
