Community Programs Specialist

NEOGOV is part of the City of Boise, and they are seeking a Community Programs Specialist to support and implement community programs. Responsibilities

Coordinates with department staff to promote community education and volunteer programs through social and print media, including the development of web page announcements, flyers, brochures, newsletters and annual reports
Assists staff in research, planning and writing of training documents for volunteer programs
Updates documents and manuals as needed
Develops, coordinates and implements community educational programs that engage the public in the stewardship of Boise parks and facilities
Works with department staff and volunteers to develop, schedule, and guide park and facility tours and education excursions
Represents the department at community events
Trains and supervises volunteers on a variety of service projects
Projects may include planting, weeding, and mulching flower beds and tree wells, pruning shrubs and plants, picking up litter and disposing of debris, and caring for pollinator gardens and natural spaces
As well as general maintenance on buildings, furniture repairs and replacement, painting, carpentry repairs, moving furniture and setting up equipment for events throughout the parks
Identifies tools, materials, and equipment needed to safely complete tasks
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Two years of experience in general administrative and clerical support, and graduation from high school or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Basic knowledge of general business office practices and procedures
Proficiency in English grammar, punctuation and spelling
General customer service techniques
Standard office equipment and computer software programs
Ability to operate a computer with demonstrated proficiency using database, word processing, and spreadsheet software applications at an appropriate level for efficient job performance
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing
Ability to demonstrate varied facility maintenance and cleaning tasks
Ability to train others in safely operating a wide variety of equipment and tools, utilizing related protective gear and safety equipment
Ability to identify and prioritize additional tasks
Ability to display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations
Ability to communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance
Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion
Ability to understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations
Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance
Ability to perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record
Valid state-issued driver's license

Preferred

Basic knowledge or experience in event planning, graphic design, and/or facility maintenance practices
