Responsibilities
Conduct on-site inspections and observations of Capital Improvement Projects (CIP) for water, wastewater, reclaimed water, and stormwater utilities
Inspect treatment, alteration, and repair work for compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and regulations
Verify all construction is fully completed prior to final payment and County acceptance
Communicate regularly with engineers, contractors, project managers, owners, and County departments throughout construction
Document construction progress through detailed reports and photographic records
Review proposed construction plans and project specifications
Attend pre-construction and ongoing progress meetings for assigned projects
Review material submittals to ensure compliance with contract requirements and applicable standards
Inspect work sites and materials delivered before and during construction
Participate in final acceptance testing, inspections, and as-built document reviews for Capital projects
Qualification
Required
A High School Diploma or its equivalent
Four (4) or more years of experience in utility construction work and/or inspection and testing of utility work
College or university-level training in related fields may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required construction/maintenance experience
Two (2) years in related inspecting experience
Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire
Preferred
Technical knowledge of practices, standards and regulations of utility construction
Ability to interpret and use plans and specifications and knowledge of alternative procedures of construction
Knowledge of standard traffic control
