Security Shift Supervisor II -Afternoon Shift (3-11pm)

They are seeking a Security Shift Supervisor II to oversee physical security operations, manage security personnel, and ensure the safety of company locations during the afternoon shift.

Responsibilities

Supervise physical security operations including the activities of assigned security personnel responsible for: guarding property against damage, fire, theft, trespassing and illegal entry, ensuring identification of employees and visitors and responding and investigating disturbances and security breaches at company locations
Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the department
Coordinate and monitor training and certification of physical security staff
Prepare work schedules, assign job duties and monitor work performance
Ensure adherence to all Company and departmental policies and procedures
Counsel and recommend the discipline of subordinates as indicated
Process payroll and complete other administrative duties as assigned
Act as a liaison between Security and other departments on an assigned shift
Perform duties of assigned staff
Use approved defense tactics, maneuvers or non-lethal weapons to subdue resisting subjects, or restrain and detain unruly individuals until the arrival of the proper authorities
Respond to and directs security operations at all emergency situations that arise on assigned shift
Take appropriate action when any unsafe condition is observed or reported
Perform initial investigations as needed on submitted complaints and assist in maintaining files and other departmental information
Review security reports for completeness and accuracy
Perform initial investigations related to complex complaints, and situations
Serve as a member of the Rapid Response Team responsible for responding to and addressing active assailant or other threatening situations at company locations
Oversee subordinate Rapid Response Team members when responding to threat situations
In situations that justify the use of a firearm, use extreme judgement, emotional control and caution to load, unload, aim and fire handguns, shotguns and other company-approved firearms
Use authorized weapons, protective gear and devices, while maintaining awareness of and ensuring personal safety and the safety of others
Meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing and permit requirements for Armed Security Officers and specific protective device and weapons qualifications
Review security reports for completeness and accuracy
Assist in maintaining files of all reports and other departmental information
Take steps to ensure the confidentiality of information contained in sensitive files
Monitor maintenance and documentation of assigned equipment on a daily basis
Participate in implementation of emergency procedures such as fire, accidents, evacuation, and traffic control
Review departmental procedures and recommend improvements to management
Maintain knowledge of security techniques and best practices
Select, hire, train, develop and coach assigned staff in accordance with corporate and Human Resource guidelines

Required

College level coursework in Criminal Justice, Security, Business Administration or a related field OR equivalent work experience
completion of required training in carrying and operating firearms
possess and maintain a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License
possession of a valid, unrestricted Michigan Operators License
five (5) years of experience as an armed certified law enforcement officer, military police, P.A. 330 security police officer, corporate security officer, or private security for a high profile client
three (3) years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity in Corporate Security, Arrest Authority Security, Police Agency, or other professional security setting
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of proper procedures and techniques for operating firearms
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of active shooter and active threat management tactical response
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of criminal and civil law as it relates to private security in the area of arrest, search & seizure, the rules of evidence, investigative procedures and use of force
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of access control systems, fire and burglar alarm systems and closed circuit television systems
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of security information management software and other related data base systems
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of techniques to manage stress and control highly emotional situations
Demonstrate substantial knowledge of supervisory techniques and processes
Ability to successfully complete drug screening
Ability to successfully complete psychological evaluation
Ability to successfully complete firearms and use of force training
Ability to work in environments and under conditions that require carrying authorized weapons and ammunition and use protective gear and devices
Ability to evaluate situations and make sound decisions based on all available information
Ability to maintain composure and perform well under stressful and very intense situations
Ability to utilize mental processes necessary to perform essential job duties and responsibilities include observing, identifying, remembering, understanding, and problem solving
Ability to perform other physical activities necessary to essential job duties including: walking, standing, running, walking/running stairs, driving, lifting, carrying, climbing, reaching and restraining/detaining violators
Ability to lift and/or transport packages weighing up to thirty (30) pounds
Ability to operate firefighting equipment, first aid equipment, computers, office equipment and access control equipment, fire systems and other equipment used by the Security Services Department
Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle in order to monitor building/grounds
Ability to patrol building and property to identify security breaches
Ability to operate a personal computer
Ability to review daily report regarding shift activities
Ability to communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public
Ability to demonstrate good public relations and customer service skills
Ability to work off-shifts or weekends as required
Supervisory Ability to include providing work direction and guidance
Supervisory Ability to include managing employee work performance
Supervisory Ability to include prioritizing, organizing and planning work schedules and responsibilities

Preferred

Associates Degree in Law Enforcement or a related field
Three years of experience in a supervisory or lead capacity in Corporate Security, Arrest Authority Security, Police Agency, or other professional security setting
