Responsibilities
Operating a variety of specialized machinery, including excavators, Menzi-Muck, bobcats, Gradalls, graders, backhoes, bulldozers, high-lifts, and front-end loaders with a bucket capacity of three cubic yards or greater
Driving vehicles with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more, including dump trucks and tractor trailers
Performing manual labor on assigned projects
Contributing to the upkeep of park facilities
Carrying out intermediate-level repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment
Conducting safety checks and inspections of equipment before use
Maintaining accurate records for all operated machinery
Operating mowing equipment
Assisting with carpentry, masonry, and mechanical projects
Maintaining the water level in the canal
Performing necessary repairs and removing trees and brush along the canal
Responding promptly in emergency situations
Collaborating with contractors to address leaks in the canal
Demonstrating the operation of assigned equipment to fellow employees
Undertaking any other related tasks as required
Qualification
Required
One year of experience as an Equipment Operator A (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
Two years of experience in the operation of heavy construction and specialized maintenance equipment used at this level with a gross vehicle weight of 32,001 pounds or more; or
Any equivalent combination of experience or training
You must possess a valid Class C Pennsylvania driver's license
This position requires possession of a Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) that is not under suspension
You must meet the PA residency requirement
You must be able to perform essential job functions
A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports
