Responsibilities
Manage the complete lifecycle of sales and use tax compliance, including preparation, filing, and timely payment of tax returns
Lead and oversee tax audits, addressing inquiries from federal, state, and local authorities
Stay updated on changes in sales and use tax laws, evaluating their impact on the organization's operations
Develop and implement process improvements to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of tax-related workflows
Create and maintain comprehensive tax policies, procedures, and documentation
Collaborate with finance, operations, and IT teams to streamline systems and processes
Train, mentor, and manage the performance of sales and use tax staff
Coordinate with external advisors and internal teams to devise effective tax strategies and planning initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; advanced degrees are advantageous
Minimum of 5 years of experience in multi-state sales and use tax compliance
At least 2 years of experience in supervising or managing a team
Comprehensive knowledge of sales and use tax laws, audit procedures, and tax technology systems
Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management abilities
Strong leadership and communication skills to effectively guide teams and liaise with stakeholders
Residency in North Carolina with the ability to commute to the office 1–2 times per month
