Specialist, Early Childhood Educator, Jordan Campus Child Care
Salt Lake Community College is Utah’s largest open-access college, and they are seeking an Early Childhood Educator for their Jordan Campus Child Care. The role involves providing care and guided play-based learning for children aged birth to twelve, while managing classroom routines and maintaining communication with parents.

Responsibilities
Complete paperwork associated with progressing children on individual goals
Establish relationships with their teams, which are often new staff members and students
Teacher must mentor other staff by modeling and explaining techniques that are developmentally appropriate and align with the accreditation and state standards
Write lesson plans, evaluate observations, Parent Teacher Conferences/ Orientations, and complete paperwork associated with teaching young children
Work in the classroom directly supervising the children while following the curriculum, accreditation standards, and licensing regulations
Maintain a clean classroom and serve food as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States
All employees are expected to maintain a permanent residence within the State of Utah as a condition of employment
Must have one of the following: Child Development Associate, Child Development Coursework, Associate's degree with course work in a related field such as Education or Child Development
Minimum of six (6) months direct, paid, full-time work experience
Must be at least 18 years old at the time of starting the position
Must pass a background check from the Bureau of Child Care Licensing
Must pass a basic physical and a TB Screening
Must be able to bend, lift, and interact with children at their level
Qualified applicants will need to understand the importance of early childhood learning, child development, appropriate milestones, health and safety regulations of Bureau of Child Care Licensing, and basic managerial functions
Work with small children in small and large group settings
Relate and communicate with others
Plan based on observation
Use technology to document work
Be professional and dependable
Comply with directions of Director and work independently
Take initiative and resolve conflicts professionally
Exhibit social maturity, physical endurance, and the emotional stability required to take charge of a group of young children
Be willing and capable of learning new skills
Ability to maintain demeanor during times of high level stress
Lift boxes, children, and moving furniture up to 40 lbs. is required
Regular exposure to communicable illnesses, and bodily fluids will occur
Must read and write in English
Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College
Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities
