Equipment Maintenance Technician II/Electrician

Responsibilities
Perform preventative/general maintenance, testing and repairs to electrical equipment and control systems, pumps and motors up to 350hp, 480volt 3-phase, and permitted new circuit installation with knowledge of and ability to work in Class 1 and Division 2 environments. (20%)
Repair and maintain potable water production wells, water pollution control facility plant, and wastewater pump stations, automated motor control systems up to and including 480v/3ph, magnetic contactors, variable frequency drives, and electronic process controls. Diagnose and recommend appropriate actions and/or review suggested actions for the maintenance and repair of City well equipment and equipment associated with wastewater collection and treatment systems. Review and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, work orders, maintenance records, and customer service requests to accurately complete work assignments; respond to service calls, determine priority, and perform emergency and non-emergency repairs during and occasionally after regular working hours. (20%)
Perform general electrical installation maintenance and repair for Public Works facilities and grounds and assist the Parks and Facilities Division with electrical repair and maintenance of other City facilities as needed. Select and manage outside vendors, in accordance with public procurement requirements, to perform contract work, including but not limited to HVAC, mechanical, and electrical facility repairs. (20%)
Receive cross training with Mechanical/Electronic Equipment Maintenance Supervisor in complex mechanical and electrical diagnostics and repairs. (15%)
Maintain safe work habits and contribute to the safety of self, co-workers and the public
Maintain consistent and regular job attendance and adherence to working hours
Respond promptly after hours when necessary to perform emergency electrical repairs required to restore or sustain functionality of critical systems
Effectively and clearly communicate to others verbally and in both electronic and physical written form
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with supervisors, co-workers and customers
Qualification
Required
Possession of an Oregon General Journeyman Electrician license is required
Possession of a valid driver's license, and acceptable driving record
Operation, diagnosis, installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
Electrical control systems up to and including 480volt 3-phase
Work safety best practices and safety regulations related to job duties
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
Understand and apply advanced mechanical and electrical skills
Ability to diagnose, locate, and repair electrical and electronic malfunctions
Respond promptly to emergencies, including after-hours emergencies
Learn software utilized within the department
Work effectively and positively with the public, vendors, service providers, and City staff
Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the job
A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be to possess a high school diploma or GED, 2 years electrical skills training and over 4 years of related job experience, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the above duties
