Responsibilities
Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities
Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, residence halls exteriors, common areas, parking areas, and perimeter walkways; working environments and conditions may vary by location
Monitor access points and help to deter unauthorized entry by observing activity, checking credentials when required, and/or directing visitors to the proper entry and check-in areas
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including alarms, disturbances, medical calls, and/or suspicious activity, and request additional resources when needed
Observe and report conditions that may impact operations, including unsecured doors, broken lights, and/or unusual behavior; document findings per site procedure
Complete required reports and logs in a timely manner, including incident reports, patrol activity reports, and/or daily shift summaries
Provide directions and general assistance, support event foot traffic flow when assigned, and coordinate with site representatives on special instructions for campus activities
Use site communication tools such as radio and/or phone to maintain situational awareness and coordinate responses with Allied Universal leadership and local partners as directed
Qualification
Required
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment
A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only
