Responsibilities
Partner with private sector leaders, associations, and stakeholders to attract investment, secure funding, and expand employment in high-growth mobility economy sectors
Conduct research and analysis to assess market trends, inform policy decisions, and strengthen Washington’s long-term economic resilience
Design and implement policies and strategies that advance the state’s mobility economy and align with broader economic development goals
Provide timely, strategic briefings and recommendations to Commerce leadership through the Innovation and Industry Partnerships Director
Coordinate efforts with internal teams, other state agencies, and the Governor’s Office to align programs and ensure policy coherence
Represent Washington at legislative hearings, industry forums, and stakeholder events, serving as a visible and trusted spokesperson on mobility economy issues
Prepare legislative reports, policy analyses, fiscal notes, and recommendations, including draft language for proposed legislation
Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships across government, industry, and community to ensure effective communication and advance shared objectives
Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of Washington’s mobility economy while upholding the highest ethical standards
Qualification
Required
At least seven (7) years through a combination of formal education and professional work in public policy, economic development, business, or a related field within the mobility economy, including, but not limited to, advanced manufacturing, clean transportation, maritime innovation, and/or defense readiness
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Proven ability to work effectively with diverse external partners
Sensitivity to public perspectives
Capacity to balance the needs of aerospace, maritime and defense industries and broader economic development goals
Preferred
A master's degree, relevant professional certifications, or prior experience in a legislative or public policy environment are strongly preferred
