Responsibilities

Administer and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures for eligibility and assistance
Provide high customer service standards by promptly returning calls, emails, and handling walk-ins
Evaluate and assist in maintaining Housing Choice Voucher participation, and make necessary referrals
Oversee and ensure compliance and stability of Housing Choice Voucher Participants' caseloads
Manage assigned programs, including training for building managers and case managers
Administer special programs within HUD rules and SHA’s Administrative Plan, covering peers' caseloads when needed
Maintain accurate record-keeping and documentation for all required processes
Engage in dispute resolution with landlords, neighbors, and participants, and educate participants on income documentation
Ensure timely and accurate payments to landlords, documenting noncompliance or suspected fraud
Participate in developing and implementing goals, work plans, and performance measures while attending required training and safety meetings

Required

Four years of related work experience in social services, data entry, government administration, or housing; or 12 months as a Certification Specialist I at SHA; or 18 months in a similar position outside SHA
Annual performance review as a Certification Specialist I at SHA must indicate meeting or exceeding expectations in all review areas
High School diploma or equivalent, and two years of college-level coursework in social services, bookkeeping, business, or related field; or an additional two years of relevant work experience instead of college coursework

If you are disabled, the Basic Plan will be combined with other sources of income to pay you up to $400 a month after a 90-day waiting period.
Long term care benefits provide for services such as home care, assisted living, and nursing home care.
You can select from one of two plans - Basic GTL, which is one-and-a-half times your annual earnings or Limited Basic GTL of $50,000.00.
SHA offers an employee-paid group AD&D insurance plan.
Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS) membership is defined by Washington State statutes and is mandatory if you are hired into an eligible position.
Employees have the option of making pre-tax contributions to pay for IRS eligible expenses.
Annual Leave is provided for vacation and personal time off.
Sick leave is provided for health care and related appointments.
Seattle Housing Authority has ten legal and personal holidays.
Regular Administrative non-represented staff are eligible for Merit Pay and Merit Leave awards based on their annual performance evaluation.
As an SHA employee, you may be eligible for federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness.
A discount commuter ORCA Passport is offered for use on Metro, Community Transit, Pierce Transit, Kitsap Transit, Everett Transit, Sound Transit, Link Light Rail, Sounder Commuter Train routes.
With supervisor approval, work hours may be scheduled around core hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm or a compressed 4/10 workweek.
With supervisor approval, employees can perform assigned duties from home at certain times.
Confidential counseling, referral, and information services are available through Wellspring Family Services.
Tax deferred savings plans are available through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems' Deferred Compensation Program.
