WIC Certifying Authority

The City of Waco is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable WIC Certifying Authority to promote health and nutrition in the community. In this role, you will provide direct client care to WIC clients, conducting interviews and assessments to determine eligibility and create individualized nutrition care plans.

Responsibilities

Provides direct client care for PHD clients, including interviewing and assessing nutritional status to determine client's WIC eligibility and nutrition care plan; performs anthropometric and biochemical measurements; provides nutrition education and outreach programs and works with community to increase public awareness of proper nutrition; provides information, counseling, and medical case management according to specific program and physician guidelines
Operates a City vehicle to travel to clinics, community sites, outreach locations, and partner agencies to provide direct client care for PHD clients
Performs other related duties as assigned
Complies with all policies and standards
Supports the relationship between the City of Waco and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with residents, visitors, and City staff; maintains confidentiality of work-related issues and City information

Qualification

Bachelor’s Degree in NutritionWIC Certified TrainingLicensed Vocational NurseRegistered NurseValid Texas Driver’s LicenseTechnical certifications in public health

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics, examples include Nutritional Science, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Public Health Nutrition or
Bachelor's Degree in other fields may be considered with a minimum of 12 semester hours of Food and Nutrition and 6 hours of Science or
Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Valid Texas Driver's License
WIC Certified Training required within first year of hire if the degree held is not directly related to nutrition
Technical certifications in public health are preferred and may be required
