Fleet Maintenance Technician II - G118 - Fleet Management
NEOGOV is looking for a Fleet Maintenance Technician II to join the Columbus Consolidated Government's Fleet Management division. This role is responsible for servicing and repairing a variety of equipment and vehicles within the fleet, ensuring they are maintained to operational standards.

Responsibilities
Repairs and services heavy equipment, tractors, sewer trucks, air compressors, regenerative air sweepers, chippers, tar and asphalt patchers, emergency generators, trucks, cars, ambulances, cooling systems, HVAC systems, electrical systems, exhaust systems, and hydraulic systems
Performs minor and major body work, repairs, and paint work; fabricates parts as needed to complete work; installs safety equipment
Orders parts
Performs preventive maintenance
Maintains work orders and records labor and parts used
Installs vehicle numbers on equipment
Transports equipment to vendors for warranty work
Travels to work sites to perform on site repairs
Supervises and trains inmates; maintains records of inmates’ training progress
Opens and closes work orders; enters information into the activity log
Repairs and replaces major assemblies and subcomponents
Maintains shop equipment and tools
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of specialized training in the occupational field, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education
Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the work of subordinate positions and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems, usually associated with one to two years experience or service
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
This position is required to supervise state inmate labor
Employee must pass the Department of Corrections three-day certification within the time frame required by this department which is normally six months but may be altered
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
Knowledge of mechanical principles, hydraulics, electronics, welding, fabricating, body shop repairs, painting, frame straightening, and diesel and gas engine repairs
Knowledge of the use of service tools and equipment, including diagnostic test equipment
Knowledge of safety principles and practices
Skill in the operation of computers
Skill in the operation of trucks and forklifts
Skill in reading and understanding blueprints and schematics
Skill in oral and written communication
Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations
