NEOGOV is seeking a Natural Resource Technician II to assist with the management of wildlife areas in South Carolina. The role involves planning and implementing wildlife and forest management activities, performing maintenance on facilities, and conducting wildlife surveys.

Responsibilities

Completes activities on WMA lands including posting boundaries, mowing roads, repairing roads and posting WMA signs
Plans and implements wildlife management activities at Woodbury, Marsh and Pee Dee Station WMAs
Completes routine maintenance of Region 2 facilities and operational equipment
Completes routine maintenance of Marsh WMA clubhouse
Plans and implements forest management activities at Woodbury, Marsh and Pee Dee Station WMAs
Traps and bands doves, collects CWD samples and completes other wildlife surveys in Region 2 Unit A as assigned by supervisor
Assists with and conducts public hunts on areas within the Unit

Required

A high school diploma and two (2) years of experience in wildlife or fisheries work or an associate degree in the technical sciences

Preferred

Basic agricultural equipment operation and farming knowledge
Ability to communicate with others, complete reports accurately, and work independently with instructions, or as a team
Knowledge of basic wildlife management
Ability to handle wild animals, conduct prescribed burns, mourning dove and wood duck banding, and conduct wildlife population surveys
Ability to safely operate tractors, heavy equipment, ATV and truck
