Responsibilities
Perform para-professional and technical work in providing information to members of the public, representatives of outside agencies, and County employees in regard to laws, codes, ordinances, and requirements that apply to the construction and use of structures and land use
Qualification
Required
Three (3) years of full time paid technical experience in the areas of land use, architecture, zoning, planning, building inspection, surveying, construction, engineering, environmental studies, or a closely related field
The successful completion of two (2) years or 50 units of coursework offered by an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in urban planning, geography, building inspection, construction technology, environmental studies, engineering, mathematics, or a closely related field can be used to substitute for two (2) years of the experience requirement listed above
Applicants must submit or attach copies of their complete official transcripts or unofficial transcripts, diplomas, and/or proof of completion letters, or other documentation originated by a United States accredited college or university; or a certified foreign studies equivalency for colleges or universities outside of the United States
Preferred
A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Urban Planning, Geography, Construction Technology, or a related field such as Engineering or Architecture
Experience processing and/or issuing building permits for any of the following: Custom single-family dwellings, Mobile homes and mobile home parks, Subdivisions or tracts, Commercial developments, Right of way improvements and/or utilities, Residential Development
Paid work experience providing information to members of the public, employees, or representatives of outside agencies on regulations pertaining to land use
Paid work experience in interpreting and explaining policies, procedures, and regulations to members of the public and representatives of outside agencies
Paid experience providing information or general customer service to the public or representatives of outside organizations
