Responsibilities
Responsible for all new and pending personal injury and property damage litigation, as well as pre-suit investigation
Conduct legal research
Responsible for all Department of Children & Families (DCF) matters including investigations and attendance at employee interviews by case workers
Work effectively with company employees and executives
Evaluate the settlement potential of each case, requesting authority from management when required
Review adequacy of reserves for both extra-contractual indemnity and extra-contractual expenses. Recommend reserve adjustments to management
Attend settlement conferences, mediations, arbitrations, depositions and trials
Coordinate with insurance adjusters and management
Make decisions that have a considerable and financial consequence
Supervise paralegal
Qualification
Required
A law degree and a license to practice law in Connecticut
10+ years' experience as a practicing attorney
Significant auto liability and litigation experience
Ability to complete written reports, legal opinions and letters
Verbal skills to effectively communicate with multiple parties on complex issues
Perform routine and non-routine job functions with minimal supervision
