Technical Operations Technician II TNTO07 2026-00090
The Wyoming Department of Transportation (WYDOT) is seeking a qualified Technician Operations Technician II to support the safe and efficient operation of the state’s transportation system. This position is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical traffic control devices and lighting systems used to regulate, warn, and guide the traveling public.

Responsibilities
Repairs, builds, and maintains complex traffic-related electronic equipment
Maintains and diagnoses hardware and software
Replaces damaged parts; inspects and diagnoses specific problems
Performs preventive maintenance, emergency repair and troubleshooting, modifications, utility locates, operation, software maintenance, and oversees initial operations
May provide advanced training to less experienced specialists
May assist or oversee contractors' installation
Inspect, diagnose and document and repair roadside lighting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's Degree
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Technical Operations) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Technical Operations Technician I
Some agencies may require a valid Class C driver's license
Must have the ability to obtain a Wyoming CLP permit within 30 days of employment
Must have the ability to obtain a Wyoming Class A CDL within 9 months of employment
Must have the ability to obtain a certification to operate equipment as directed by WYDOT
Basic hand tool use and knowledge
Ability to read and use a digital multimeter
Ability to perform the job safely
Proper training in basic first-aid and CPR
Knowledge of the NEC (National Electrical Code) handbook and MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices)
Knowledge of safely and properly working out of an aerial lift truck at heights of 40 feet
Knowledge and ability to work on electrical systems ranging from low voltage DC (12 to 24 volts) and AC ranging from 120 to 480 volts
Knowledge of time management and making quality decisions, as this position is in the field without on-site supervision
Preferred
Current Class A Commercial Driver License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements prior to employment
Certifications in the following International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) - Work Zone Safety, Traffic Signal Field Tech Level 1, Roadway Lighting Tech Level 1
Good understanding of the NEC (National Electrical Code) handbook and MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices)
