Electrical Plans Examiner 2026-00211
NEOGOV is seeking an Electrical Plans Reviewer to evaluate building and electrical plans for projects statewide. This role involves reviewing plans for code compliance, identifying deficiencies, and ensuring approved plans are implemented correctly in the field to support safe electrical code compliance throughout Wyoming.

Responsibilities
Responsible for electrical system plan review and assists with building plan, kitchen hood, and above ground fuel storage tanks review as needed
Documents all reviews, inquiries, and variances
Performs regulatory tasks within Agency programs as established by state and federal statutes, rules as adopted, model codes, and standards
Provides education and enforces compliance
Communicate via phone or email with design professionals, owners, contractors, and inspectors to ensure code compliant designs
Train new employees in the plan review and inspection process, use of the records management system, and obtaining continued professional development
Supports agency programs in various manners including written correspondence, presentations, public speaking, and maintaining databases
Maintains records and equipment and travels responsibly throughout the State
Serves as a witness during hearings as requested
Manages plan review priorities and meets the required review deadlines
Represents the agency to the public
Qualification
Required
Wyoming-licensed Master Electrician or possess the qualifications necessary to obtain a Wyoming Master Electrician license
Obtain a Wyoming Master Electrician license and International Code Council (ICC) Electrical Plans Examiner certification within one year of the date of hire
Bachelor's Degree
0-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
4-6 years of progressive work experience (typically in Inspection) with acquired knowledge at the level of an Inspection Specialist II
Preferred
Certification as a certified electrical plans examiner through the International Code Council (ICC) or equivalent certifications acceptable to The Department of Fire Prevention and Electrical Safety (DFPES)
