Camp Director (Recreation Assistant VII, Grade S7)
Montgomery County Department of Recreation is a nationally recognized agency committed to providing high-quality community-based programs. They are seeking a Summer Camp Director for the summer of 2026 to develop, plan, and lead camp programs while overseeing staff and ensuring a safe environment for campers.

Responsibilities
Lead a team to plan and implement activities including arts and crafts, dance, exercise, music, sports, games, outdoor play and offsite experiences
Supervise/oversee staff and complete required administrative tasks, including maintenance of accurate records, incident log sand other functions
Develop and implement daily/weekly activity schedules for campers
Establish and maintain an orderly and safe system to greet, escort and monitor campers throughout the camp day
Assure provision of learning and enrichment opportunities through games and activities
Resolve conflicts and maintain order among campers, and address behavioral issues and concerns
Assure that all safety and health protocols are followed, including performing first aid and addressing injuries as needed
Serves as the health administrator for the camp
Demonstrate independent judgement, tactfulness and excellent customer service!
Qualification
Required
Have a valid driver's license (for job-related duties)
Have experience as a Camp Director, Program/Site Director or other experience working with children and overseeing staff
Be reliable, patient, and have good organizational and communication skills
Enjoy working with children and youth
Demonstrate a positive attitude
Be able to meet physical demands in recreation environment, participate in outdoor activities, strenuous events
Plan to attend pre-season trainings, weekly staff briefings/meetings
Be available to work Monday through Friday from June 2026 through August 2026 and attend mandatory camp trainings (dates TBD)
All candidates will be required to successfully pass a criminal history background check, as well as a child protective services background check
Experience: Four thousand one hundred sixty (4,160) hours (two (2) years) of relevant work experience as an instructor or supervisor in one or more specialized recreation activities
Education: Completion of two (2) years of college
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted
Preferred
Be first aid and/or CPR certified
