Aquatic Park Supervisor

Responsibilities

Oversees, delegates, and assists with the daily tasks of all Head Lifeguards, Lifeguards, Concession Stand Leads, Concession Stand Staff, and Front Desk Staff, ensuring exceptional service and compliance with policies and procedures
Assists in the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, discipline, and evaluation of aquatic personnel; provides regular performance feedback to the Aquatics Administrator
Supports daily financial operations, including start- and end-of-day procedures, monitoring cash drawers, and ensuring accurate revenue collection
Maintains strong knowledge of and enforces all facility rules, safety standards, and emergency procedures, ensuring staff and patron compliance
Conducts regular inspections of pools, decks, restrooms, and surrounding areas to ensure safety, cleanliness, and aesthetic quality; reports and addresses hazards promptly
Executes and oversees opening and closing procedures for all aquatic areas to ensure smooth, efficient daily operations
Provides on-deck supervision and leadership, ensuring proper zone coverage, staff awareness, and consistent operational standards
Responds quickly and effectively to all emergencies, including water rescues, injuries, behavioral incidents, and patron conflicts; administers First Aid and coordinates emergency actions
Provides exceptional customer service, addressing patron questions, resolving conflicts, and communicating information clearly and professionally
Assists with programming and event oversight, including swim team practices, swimming lessons, facility rentals, party packages, and special events
Performs maintenance and cleanliness tasks, including monitoring chemical readings and ensuring equipment and workspaces remain neat, safe, and organized
Supports front desk operations as needed, including pass sales, program registrations, check-ins, and waiver verification
Serves as a communication link between management and staff, providing updates, addressing concerns, and fostering a positive work environment
Deals effectively and courteously with fellow employees and the public
Performs other duties as assigned
Participates in and may lead staff trainings, in-service sessions, emergency drills, and professional development activities
Maintains a neat and orderly work area
Maintains appropriate supplies for assigned areas

Required

At least two (2) years of professional experience in pool operations, aquatic personnel development, or aquatic programming required
Must be a self-starter with initiative and urgency in completing tasks
Must communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
Strong time management, cognitive, and analytical skills required
Must be able to handle stressful situations and make decisions under pressure with little to no guidance
Must possess basic computer skills
Must be able to perform effectively as a member of a team in carrying out the City's Mission, Vision, & Values
Must be at least 18 years old
Must possess a valid Missouri Driver's License or reliable transportation
Must possess a current American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer; certifications must remain valid for the entire season
Performs bending, squatting, crawling, twisting, kneeling, and reaching to ground level and overhead
Must be able to reach, grip and hold
Must be able to sit, walk, and stand for prolonged periods of time
Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry 60 pounds

Preferred

At least one (1) year of experience working for the Republic Aquatic Center within the last three years is strongly preferred
One (1) year of professional leadership experience preferred
Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Management, Recreation & Leisure Studies, Recreation, Sport & Park Administration, or related field preferred
Strong swimming ability preferred
