Responsibilities

Administrative responsibilities include a variety of tasks, which may include inputting, processing, and distributing a variety of documents and records, collecting, compiling, filing, and maintaining confidential data
Must be able to work in an environment that demands accuracy, time management skills and effectively multi-task
Ability to work with and provide excellent customer service to the public and fellow employees
Maintain professional appearance and communication at all times
Must maintain strict confidentiality
Position requires frequent direct contact with people accused of and/or convicted of criminal offenses, including contact with inmates at the jail
May require prolonged sitting
Other duties as assigned

Required

Must be a citizen of the United State of America
Must be a minimum of 19 years of age
Have a High School Diploma or GED
Have a favorable driving record and hold a valid driver's license, if not licensed by the State of Texas, be able to obtain a Texas driver's license before employment
Able to drive to several county building locations
Must have reliable transportation
Must not have a criminal record that would preclude hiring as determined by Ellis County Sheriff's Office standards
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work
Ability to interact with employees and the public in a professional manner
Ability to work independently
Must be proficient in computer skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and other office-related equipment

Preferred

2 years of clerical or administrative experience preferred
