Assessment Center Technician (part-time)
Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsin's largest and most diverse technical college, offering a variety of programs aimed at connecting students to careers. The Assessment Center Technician will perform clerical duties and act as an examiner for GED and Pearson Vue Testing under the supervision of the Director of Admissions & Testing.

Responsibilities
Serves as an examiner for GED and Pearson Vue Testing
Gathers and/or provides factual information, requiring reference to a variety of sources. Compiles, calculates, and prepares statistical material including designing formats for complex tables, charts and graphs
Drafts forms, composes form letters, and compiles factual reports which require exercise of judgment
Enters data through an electronic keyboard to record or verify a variety of complex or encoded data; receives and reviews input and output data; maintains and revises lists, control records and other source documents
Allocates materials to, and cross-files in, a complex filing system. Maintains and updates files, records, logs, listings, and other reference materials. Develops new filing systems as required
Proofreads and corrects written materials. Verifies information for accuracy and completeness and resolves discrepancies in listings, reports, or other sources including information retrieved from data entry terminals
Screens mail and determines which correspondence may be answered by others than immediate superior and addressee
Makes appointments, exercising judgment concerning priorities
Receives and directs visitors to designated personnel or offices
Answers telephones and directs calls to designated personnel. Responds to questions and inquiries by providing information of a technical nature, requiring knowledge of department operations and procedures; exercises discretion in determining whether and what information should be released
Trains and directs a small staff of clerical employees
Operates personal computer, computer terminal, calculator, duplicating, copying, computer terminal, and other office equipment
Performs related duties as required or assigned
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma
Must have a minimum of two (2) year of office experience
Ability to create and maintain a positive work environment
Ability to multi-task
Ability to handle change
Exceptional abilities for attention to detail
Thorough knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation and composition
Thorough knowledge of modern business office practices, procedures and skill in their applications
Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of a personal computer, computer applications and software such as Word, Excel, Electronic Mail, etc
Ability to keep complex records, to assemble and organize data, and prepare reports from such records
Ability to compose a wide variety of correspondence without specific instructions
Ability to take and transcribe dictation accurately
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of other staff, employees, students and the general public
Ability to maintain confidential information and communicate effectively about sensitive issues through both oral and written means
Ability to work under stress and pressure
Ability to lift up to 15 lbs., carry, and push up to 20 lbs. and ability pull up to 50 lbs
Ability to climb stairs and a ladder and maintain balance
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, hear and speak
Preferred
Bachelor's degree
Four (4) years office experience

HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types: 1- UMR High Level PPO 2- UMR Low Level PPO
DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental. Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employee's behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave hours granted based on hours worked in summary from 8/15 of previous year through 8/14 of current year. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation hours granted based on hours worked summary from 3/15 of previous year through 3/14 of current year (Not available for Instructors).
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
