The City of Casper is looking for a Solid Waste Collections Operator I - Temporary Street Sweeper to join its Public Services Department. This role involves operating refuse collection vehicles and performing routine maintenance while contributing to the cleanliness and safety of the community.

Responsibilities

Drives basic routes and operates a limited variety of refuse collection vehicles to collect refuse and/or street sweepings within Casper City limits
Delivers refuse and street sweepings to a balefill facility
Collects and transports recycle commodities to the processor using recycle, roll-off, and solid waste collection vehicles
Monitors compaction and load restrictions for collection vehicles and determines the appropriate time to return to the Solid Waste transfer station to empty contents at designated areas
Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on assigned vehicle(s) and reports the need for major repairs; checks fluid levels; greases and lubricates parts as required; replaces filters; cleans and cares for tools and equipment
Represents the City of Casper by responding to the public, citizens, its employees, and others in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner while continuously maintaining a positive customer service demeanor
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Required

High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
Must be at least 18 years of age
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Wyoming Class B Commercial Driver's License required

Preferred

Methods, materials, and equipment used in solid waste collection operations preferred
Commercial vehicle operation and routine maintenance preferred
Traffic laws, ordinances, and rules involved in truck and heavy equipment operations preferred
Minimum one year of experience driving and operating a Class “B” Commercial Vehicle preferred
