Fleet Maintenance Technician I POS# 108000012
NEOGOV is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to join their Internal Services Department in Cumberland County. The role involves diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on a variety of County vehicles and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.

Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair a wide range of County vehicles and equipment, including engines, drivetrains, fuel systems, steering and suspension systems, electrical systems, brake systems, cooling systems, and air conditioning systems
Rebuild or replace major vehicle components as needed to ensure safe and reliable operation of the County fleet
Diagnose, repair, and adjust hydraulic and vacuum-operated systems, including hydraulic motors, hoses, fittings, and power take-off (PTO) units
Install department-specific and specialized equipment in vehicles and fabricate or modify mounts, brackets, and protective covers to ensure safe and effective operation
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment, identifying and correcting potential issues before failure occurs
Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as brake repairs, oil and fluid changes, battery replacement and charging, belt and spark plug replacement, exhaust system repairs, and filter replacement or cleaning
Remove, repair, and replace damaged or worn tires, including inner tube repairs and tire mounting and balancing, and test vehicles following maintenance or repair
Research vehicle and equipment technical information to accurately diagnose malfunctions and determine appropriate repair solutions
Assume responsibility for complex repair projects and provide technical assistance, guidance, and mentorship to other mechanics as needed
Perform service calls and wrecker operations for disabled County and impounded vehicles, participate in vehicle recovery operations, serve as an on-call employee as scheduled, and conduct State Division of Motor Vehicles and federal vehicle inspections as required
Qualification
Required
High school or GED and two (2) years of experience in general automotive/related repair or service work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Possession of Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification within the A group or equivalent within six (6) months of employment
Vehicle inspector licensed by the State Division of Motor Vehicles within six (6) months of employment
Certification in CFC recovery within six (6) months of employment
Must supply and maintain a general mechanic's tool set at the work site
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
