Community Health Specialist (Flex CHS Trainee/CHS I)
NEOGOV is seeking a Community Health Specialist to join the Capital City Fire Rescue’s Mobile Integrated Healthcare team. The role focuses on enhancing community health by providing alternatives to emergency services and delivering direct medical care to patients.

Responsibilities
Enhance community health by providing alternatives to emergency services for persons with non-emergent needs
Provide medical care in the scope of certification, including assessing patients, delivering basic life support, and transporting individuals to and from medical facilities
Support patients and families in managing chronic physical and behavioral health conditions by assisting with medication administration, offering health education, and helping them navigate access to services such as housing, food assistance, and non-emergent medical care through established referral systems
Operate emergency vehicles, maintain detailed documentation, and participate in regular training to stay current with medical standards and protocols
Work in conjunction with Bartlett Regional Hospital clinicians and the Juneau Police Department to form a Mobile Crisis Team, responding to dispatched calls
Assess and manage medical needs on scene, provide de-escalation and support in high stress situations, coordinate transport to appropriate facilities when necessary, and document calls accurately
Assist the Community Health Paramedic on complex calls and work independently on less complex calls
Qualification
Required
High School graduation or a valid GED certificate
One (1) year of experience working in a human services, behavioral health, or related field
Not less than 18 years of age at time of appointment
A valid Driver's License at time of appointment and for continued employment
Valid Emergency Trauma Technician Certification within (3) months of appointment and for continued employment
Certification as a State of Alaska Emergency Medical Technician I or higher within one (1) year of appointment and for continued employment
Eighteen (18) months of experience in a human services, behavioral health, or related field
Certification by the State of Alaska as an Emergency Medical Technician I at time of appointment and for continued employment
