Responsibilities
Supervises staff engaged in the maintenance and landscaping of the City’s community parks and Sports Complex
Conducts technical maintenance work, such as ball field preparation and renovations
Oversee irrigation system testing and maintenance
Acts as the onsite lead turf grass management technical representative for application, recording, and storage of required fertilizers and pesticides
Completes administrative tasks, attends meetings, manages weekly reports, conducts onsite safety inspections, and monitors supplies and inventory
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in any field or equivalent
Minimum of three years' related working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment and procedures
Valid AZ Driver's License upon hire
Licensed for the application to Ornamental and Turf Pest Control through the Office of Pest Management within 6 months of hire
Playground Safety Certification through the National Playground and Safety Institute within 6 months of hire
Exerting 20-50 lbs. occasionally
Preferred
Experienced with personnel supervision including timekeeping, approving requests for time off, etc
Comfortable directing personnel in what's needed to meet the needs of an activity, event or program with minimal direction
Comfortable communicating with patrons, volunteers, vendors, concessionaires, and public safety and team personnel as required
A safety conscious, punctual team player with a high work ethic, with the flexibility to act cross-functionally when the Department's workload demands
