Supervisor of Project Controls | T&D
Arizona Public Service (APS) is seeking a Supervisor of Project Controls to lead a high-performing team in supporting capital project delivery. This role focuses on effective planning, financial oversight, and cross-functional coordination to ensure compliance with company policies and successful project outcomes.
Responsibilities
Oversees a team of project controls specialists responsible for the: preparation and review of monthly accruals, reconciliations, variance explanations and financial transactions for projects; analysis of capital project costs and financial data to ensure proper accounting treatment and financial accuracy; support of month end close activities, including cost reviews, accrual accuracy and proper charging practices at the project and portfolio level
Supports project managers with forecasting, reporting and analysis of complex projects. Analyzes budget estimates and forecasts; compiles and manages estimates for the T&D capital portfolio. Oversees long range material forecasting strategies in partnership with Supply Chain and vendors to ensure alignment and availability of critical materials. Reviews T&D material adherence performance to ensure alignment across Supply Chain, Engineering, PMO, and Major Customer Projects
Serves as a key liaison between Project Management, FBO, Finance, Accounting, Legal, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Engineering and PMO leadership. Leads and supports cross department discussions to resolve discrepancies, improve forecasting processes and ensure financial and operational alignment. Makes recommendations to Finance and Accounting based on analysis and project performance insights
Monitors capital project management metrics, milestone reports and budgets to identify trends and measure effectiveness. Oversees accurate and timely preparation of capital project documentation including reports, work authorizations, purchase requirements, work orders and assessments
Monitors expenditures within area of responsibility to ensure prudent use of company funds and resources. Explains budget deviations and recommends appropriate adjustments
Establishes and continually monitors work priorities to ensure effective utilization of staff, tools and resources. Oversees staffing, training, salary administration, coaching and performance management to develop a high performing team. Communicates expectations, policies and operational requirements to staff and ensures management decisions align with company policy. Resolves technical issues and evaluates alternatives, recommending and implementing viable solutions
Implements and maintains effective planning and operating practices to maximize team efficiency and effectiveness in achieving business objectives. Reviews schedules, workflows and cost performance to identify improvement opportunities. Recommends and implements actions that improve departmental performance related to schedule management and cost control
Qualification
Required
A four-year Bachelors degree in Business, Management, Construction, Finance, Accounting or other job-related field from an accredited college or university plus three (3) years of experience in Finance, Accounting, Project Management, T&D portfolio management
In lieu of bachelors degree, combination of college coursework and/or experience in the above fields totaling seven (7) years
