Responsibilities
Represent landlords/creditors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcies - preparing/filing claims and litigating rent recoveries
Advise on automatic stay relief, plan objections, and adversary proceedings in real estate contexts
Coordinate with litigation teams on integrated strategies for distressed properties and collections
Draft motions, attend hearings, and negotiate resolutions protecting client interests in federal bankruptcy courts
Collaborate on multifaceted matters blending bankruptcy with landlord-tenant, foreclosure, and judgment enforcement
Qualification
Required
Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
Active license to practice law in New York
Experience representing landlords/creditors in Chapter 7, 11, and 13 bankruptcies
Strong understanding of bankruptcy law and procedures
Ability to prepare and file claims and litigate rent recoveries
Experience advising on automatic stay relief, plan objections, and adversary proceedings
Excellent drafting skills for motions and legal documents
Strong negotiation skills
Ability to collaborate with litigation teams on integrated strategies
Experience in federal bankruptcy courts
Preferred
Experience in real estate law
Familiarity with landlord-tenant law
Experience with foreclosure and judgment enforcement
Membership in professional organizations such as New York County Lawyers and New York State Bar Associations
