Silverspace Inc is a nationally recognized litigation law firm seeking skilled and motivated Associate Attorneys to join its California offices. The role involves managing a caseload in various areas of litigation, conducting legal research, drafting legal documents, and representing clients in court.
Responsibilities
Manage a caseload from inception through resolution, including pre-suit investigation, pleadings, discovery, motion practice, settlement, and trial preparation
Handle matters involving general liability, construction defect, toxic tort, asbestos, and silica exposure, depending on assigned practice group
Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis of complex liability, construction, product liability, exposure, causation, and regulatory issues
Analyze medical, scientific, and technical evidence to develop effective litigation strategies
Draft and respond to pleadings, motions (including motions to dismiss and summary judgment), discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements
Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses
Prepare clients, company representatives, and witnesses for depositions and trial testimony
Maintain regular communication with clients, insurers, and stakeholders
Provide strategic litigation assessments, case updates, and risk evaluations aligned with client objectives
Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials in state and federal courts
Assist in all aspects of trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, drafting trial briefs, jury instructions, and trial strategy development
Work closely with partners, senior attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure consistent, high-quality representation
Advise clients on litigation risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, construction risk management, and liability prevention strategies
Maintain accurate and timely timekeeping and billing records in accordance with firm and client guidelines
Qualification
Required
Active and good-standing membership with the State Bar of California
Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills
Ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Strong research, drafting, and organizational skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
Preferred
Prior experience in: General liability and/or construction defect litigation (San Francisco role)
Toxic tort, asbestos, or silica litigation (Los Angeles role)
Familiarity with insurance defense practices and procedures
Deposition and motion practice experience
Strong negotiation and case strategy skills
