Responsibilities
Serve as a representative of the City of Mesquite, demonstrating a positive attitude and progressive actions through the display of professionalism, courtesy, and appropriate tact and discretion in all interactions with other employees and with the public
Maintain city lots and right-of-ways; mow, spray and trim trees. Removes debris and illegally dumped garbage from City property. Maintain barricades, street signs, and other traffic control devices
Assist streets crew with daily tasks
Perform tasks such as cleaning vehicles, equipment and shop, pouring and finishing concrete and weed abatement
Paint curbs, work with road striping crew
Be dependable and meet acceptable attendance requirements at all times
Follow all applicable safety rules and regulations
Perform other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or G.E.D
Experience with concrete
Must possess at the time of employment and continuously throughout employment a valid Nevada or 'border state' driver's license, as defined by NRS 483
Basic maintenance and repair methods and procedures used in assigned area
Safe and effective operating practices of light equipment used in assigned area
Operate light equipment and power tools used in public works maintenance operations
Work independently or as part of a crew
Follow directions and have a desire to learn
Perform hard physical labor under confined and uncomfortable conditions
Ability to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and special events
Communicate effectively and courteously with City employees and the public
