Responsibilities
Install and apply thermoplastic materials to road surfaces, ensuring accurate placement and alignment
Prepare surfaces for thermoplastic application by cleaning, and repair of asphalt or concrete if needed, to promote proper adhesion and longevity of markings
Operate and maintain specialized thermoplastic application equipment including melt kettles, striping machines, and other related tools
Inspect, repair, and maintain existing traffic signs and devices to ensure clarity and compliance
Assists with the fabrication, assembly, installation, maintenance and repairs of traffic and street signs
Assists with painting pavement markings with striping machine, brush, spray gun, and other equipment as necessary
Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations regarding traffic signage
Ensure that all installations meet industry standards and specifications, for visibility, durability, and safety
Perform regular inspections of completed work to identify any deficiencies
Assists with City special events such as placing barricades and barriers
Assists with traffic control as assigned
Responds to emergency calls during hurricanes, inclement weather, or other emergency situations
Performs other job-related duties as required or assigned
Qualification
Required
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Minimum of three (3) years of work experience in the construction and maintenance field; or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the above listed knowledge, skills, and abilities commensurate with the requirements of this job
Possess a current and valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or obtain this license within six (6) months or employment; must be insurable
Ability to work non-standard hours and be on-call
Ability to travel overnight
Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and an initial drug screen
