Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain Kafka-based event-driven and streaming architectures
Develop and optimize Kafka producers and consumers using Java, Scala, or Python
Manage topics, partitions, replication, retention, and message ordering
Implement Kafka Connect for source and sink integrations
Work with Schema Registry and enforce data contracts (Avro, Protobuf, or JSON Schema)
Monitor and troubleshoot performance, throughput, latency, and consumer lag
Collaborate with application, data, and DevOps teams on end-to-end solutions
Ensure reliability, scalability, and fault tolerance in production environments
Participate in code reviews and guide best practices across teams
Qualification
Required
Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka in production
Solid programming experience in Java, Scala, or Python
Deep understanding of Kafka internals: brokers, partitions, offsets, replication, ISR
Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, or ksqlDB
Experience with Schema Registry and message serialization formats
Strong knowledge of distributed systems and event-driven architecture
Experience running Kafka on cloud platforms or Kubernetes
Comfortable debugging real-world data and pipeline issues
Preferred
Experience with Confluent Platform
Cloud experience (AWS MSK, Azure Event Hubs, GCP Pub/Sub)
Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog)
CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code experience (Terraform, Helm)
Prior experience in high-volume, low-latency systems
