Responsibilities
Attend death scenes to obtain information determining the decedent’s identity and cause and manner of death
Photograph the scene, collect evidence, and interview families and friends of the deceased, law enforcement personnel, and doctors
Process and organize scene evidence by sorting, collecting and packaging evidence, and set up files for easy retrieval
Handle packing of toxicological samples for shipping to out of state laboratory for further testing and handling bio hazardous fluids
Receive and release bodies by assisting with loading and unloading of the deceased, washing of autopsy carts and laundering soiled linens
Perform related duties as required
Qualification
Required
Ability to work nights and weekends as needed
Ability to work a variety of shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as well as occasional on-call periods
Knowledge acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's degree
No experience necessary
Must possess and maintain a valid Texas State Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
Preferred
Collin County residency or residency within a reasonable driving distance to the Collin County Medical Examiner's office in McKinney
