Responsibilities
Own end-to-end data platforms (batch + streaming)
Build and operate high-throughput streaming systems (Kafka-first)
Design lakehouse architectures for analytics and ML workloads
Ensure platform reliability: SLAs, monitoring, backfills, recovery
Make long-term architectural and scalability decisions
Partner with Product, ML, and Analytics teams as a platform owner
Qualification
Required
7+ years of Data Engineering experience
Senior/Staff-level ownership of production data platforms
Experience operating data platforms in Tier-1 enterprises
Strong background in distributed systems
Apache Kafka (production ownership)
Apache Spark (batch and streaming)
Python or Scala
Lakehouse technologies (Iceberg, Delta Lake, or Hudi)
Workflow orchestration (Airflow or equivalent)
Cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, or Azure
Data warehouses: Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
Preferred
TB–PB scale data systems
Billions of events processed
Platforms serving multiple internal teams
Experience handling SLAs, incidents, and reliability issues
Proven ability to simplify and scale complex systems
