CDOC Education Liaison II (Buena Vista)

NEOGOV is seeking a CDOC Education Liaison II to act as a liaison between colleges, students, and the facility to facilitate post-secondary education virtual classes. The role involves ensuring students have the necessary resources for their education and providing support to incarcerated individuals in navigating educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

Facilitate post-secondary education virtual classes
Ensure students and instructors can view and hear virtual sessions
Ensure students have chrome books, when applicable, to utilize during classes
Assist with requesting and tracking of google email accounts and drive access for students
Complete tracking spreadsheets and communicate with OIT, students, and outside agencies to facilitate setting up of accounts
Actively seek and respond to questions relating to programs and opportunities in education to include CDOC provided academic and CTE as well as post-secondary/prison education programming through outside agencies
Support the Administrator V and/or State Teacher II with enrollment, tracking, and evaluation of students in the eOMIS system
Provide support to incarcerated individuals in the application for FAFSA, transcript acquisition, career exploration, and reentry planning
Contribute to the safety and security of the facility by creating a positive, safe learning environment and adhering to and enforcing policy and procedure
Ensure computer-based testing labs meet vendor security requirements to include record storage and retention, testing supply security, and physical requirements
Collaborate with education staff to ensure coverage of all virtual classes as well as access to the testing lab and/or educational opportunity center for career exploration, study time, testing, and technology access
Establish and publish a set GED testing schedule to be adhered to by students and teachers
Coordinate the registration process for GED testing to include deadlines for submission of tester information in preparation for the pre-determined testing sessions
Submit requests with justification for required materials or improvements to program implementation
Data tracking to include mentor meetings, lab usage, testing statistics, and program attendance

Required

Five (5) years of full-time professional experience working in an education setting (tutoring, academic advising, course coordination, student records, computer-based test, and/or career development goals). Experience must be described in detail in the work experience section of your application to receive credit
A combination of fulltime professional experience working in an education setting (tutoring, academic advising, course coordination, student records, computer-based test, and/or career development goals) AND college level related education equal to five (5) years
A copy of your unofficial college transcripts with your name and college name MUST be attached to your application to receive credit
Must be 21 years of age
Possess a valid driver's license
Possess a high school diploma or GED
Have NO felony convictions
Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be appointed to this position
Successfully pass all modules of the six-week Colorado Department of Corrections Basic Training
Possess the physical ability to successfully complete Defensive Tactics
Must be able to see and hear in order to observe, address and respond to potential breaches in safety and security
Seize, hold, control or subdue violent or assaultive persons and defend oneself or others to prevent injury
Demonstrate body agility, strength of all four limbs and the ability to walk and climb stairs consistently
Work in situations involving assaultive behavior, physical control of another person and/or restraint situations
Deal with individuals with a range of moods and behaviors, utilizing tactfulness and a congenial, personable manner
Work with people of the opposite sex, diverse racial ethnic groups, mentally ill and emotionally disturbed offenders
Communicate by talking, listening and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information, assignments
Work in an environment with fluctuating noise and temperature (hot and cold) which may include working outdoors in inclement weather and/or concrete floor/wall work settings
Willing and able to travel
Willing and able to work various shifts, days, afternoons, graveyards (nights) which includes a rotating shift schedule
TB (tuberculosis) screening is required of all new employees upon hire

Preferred

Bachelor's Degree in Education
Experience working with Google Classroom and the Google platform
Experience working with hard to serve students in a coaching/mentoring role
Experience tracking data and reporting outcomes
Experience with FAFSA and navigating the financial aid process
Experience with career explorations, technology use, and scheduling
