Senior Piping Designer (Nuclear)

Responsibilities

Perform design and drafting activities using 3D modeling and 2D computer-aided drafting/design (CAD) software
Coordinate design activities without direct supervision, managing priorities and schedules
Prepare and review engineering deliverables such as piping plans, piping isometrics, and related documentation
Develop work breakdown structures, project scope, cost, and schedule baselines
Coordinate design with engineering disciplines, project management, vendors, and clients
Execute work in accordance with the company's project management and scheduling standards
Prepare technical specifications and support material procurement activities
Provide technical support to activities associated with construction administration, including responses to construction requests for information (RFIs)

Required

U.S. Citizenship required
Associate degree in a related technical field of study and a minimum of ten (10) years of relevant experience
Working knowledge of applicable federal (including Department of Energy orders), state, and local codes and standards
Ability to communicate effectively with audiences that include, but are not limited to, project management, engineering, vendors, subcontractors, and clients
Job-related technical knowledge necessary to complete assigned work
Knowledge of discipline codes and standards
Ability to perform work in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Ability to attend and work in a time-conscious and time-effective manner
Intermediate to expert software skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience producing engineering documentation and presentation materials
Experience executing engineering projects utilizing 3D modeling and 2D CAD automation tools in a multi-disciplinary environment
Read, interpret, and generate design drawings with minimal input from an engineer
Prepare 3D layouts and sections from conceptual and detailed design documents
Demonstrated experience with industrial piping design
Background and experience drafting/designing piping plans, piping isometrics, and stress-related layouts
Proficiency in computer-aided design utilizing Bentley MicroStation with SmartPlant 3D (SP3D) or equivalent
Experience coordinating piping designs with mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines
Perform 3D piping layout and equipment modeling of moderate to advanced complexity
Produce and check complete piping drawings, including plot plans, piping isometrics, and layout drawings
Assist in construction and pipe fabrication personnel as needed

Preferred

Experience with design systems, structures, and components for nuclear facilities under the requirements of ASME NQA-1
Knowledge of commercial availability and cost of materials
Practical field experience
EPC project experience for the following industries: U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Nuclear facilities under a nuclear quality assurance program, Manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology experience
