General Support Coordinator
The Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law is a leading national racial justice legal organization focused on achieving racial justice through legal advocacy. The General Support Coordinator will serve as the lead contact between the organization and state election programs, assisting with hotline coordination, training, and administrative support for election protection efforts.
Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Manager of EP Campaigns and Field Programs, coordinate with assigned state Election Protection coalition tables and provide the necessary infrastructure for success
Serve as a liaison between the Election Protection Hotline to the state coalition
Integrate the Election Protection Hotline and related infrastructure with election command centers and local call centers
Conduct follow-up on voter problems reported to the Hotline
Assist the EP Legal Analyst with coordinating the review of legal materials with state and local partners or legal volunteers
Conduct trainings for state and local partners about election protection and related tools
Fulfill data requests about voting questions or problems reported in the Our Vote Live database
Educate the public about voting rules and promoting the 866-OUR-VOTE Hotline
Navigate relationship dynamics with national, state, and local coalition partners
Provide administrative support to the Election Protection team and Election Protection Steering Committee
Attend meetings, develop and organize resource materials, and respond to inquiries from coalition members
Schedule meetings and note taking
Manage list servs and coalition newsletter
Fulfill swag orders, coordinate microgrants, or post social media content on behalf of the EP coalition
Track program spending and manage EP partner orders and payments for field materials
Work as needed with other departments within the Lawyers’ Committee, to ensure programmatic success
Qualification
Required
Deep and demonstrated commitment to the advancement of racial justice and civil rights required
Strong problem-solving and people management skills
Ability to work with diverse coalitions and communities of color effectively
Ability to navigate and build consensus among groups
Strong communication skills including public speaking, writing, and editing skills required
Strong organizational, detail, and program management skills required
Preferred
Minimum 1 year of experience working to develop and successfully implement democracy-related campaigns (either political, non-partisan, issue-based, or candidate-focused) on the national and/or state level preferred
Preferred experience managing volunteers
Preferred experience and training in community organizing
Preferred experience and comfort with technology infrastructure, databases, volunteer management systems, and cloud-based systems
