Senior LevelGCS is seeking a highly experienced DOCSIS Expert to support the design, development, and qualification of next-generation cable modems and gateways for the North American broadband market. This role involves guiding hardware and embedded software decisions, leading DOCSIS feature implementation, and ensuring products meet performance and certification requirements.

Responsibilities
Advise on chipset/SoC selection for DOCSIS 3.1 and DOCSIS 4.0‑ready CPE
Review hardware architecture and embedded software design for DOCSIS compliance
Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications and design plans
Guide provisioning flows including DHCP, TFTP, TOD, TLVs, certificates, and PKI
Ensure secure firmware upgrade processes (signed images, secure boot, etc.)
Support standards alignment and roadmap planning for DOCSIS evolution
Build and execute test plans in a DOCSIS lab environment
Validate performance, stability, and interoperability with CMTS/RPD/RMD systems
Diagnose field and lab issues using Wireshark/tcpdump, CM logs, SNMP, and debugging tools
Work with chipset vendors and internal teams to reproduce and resolve defects
Engage with North American MSO customers during product definition and qualification
Provide technical leadership in discussions with chipset/SoC vendors
Deliver clear documentation, test reports, and troubleshooting guidance
Maintain DOCSIS lab capabilities and documentation
Mentor engineers and contribute to internal knowledge bases
Qualification
Required
Deep hands‑on experience with DOCSIS 3.0, 3.1, and ideally DOCSIS 4.0
Strong understanding of provisioning, security, TLVs, and registration flows
Proven experience designing or qualifying DOCSIS CPE products
Background in embedded Linux and C programming
Familiarity with firmware architecture and debugging
Solid networking fundamentals: IPv4/IPv6, NAT, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP
Experience with SoC selection, board design considerations, and system performance tuning
Wireshark, tcpdump, SNMP tools, gdb, strace, CM logs
Preferred
PacketCable / SIP voice
TR‑069 / TR‑181 / USP
CMTS, RPD, RMD experience
DPoE or OMCI familiarity
SCTE certifications
