Responsibilities
Review business and individual tax returns (1065, 1120, 1120S, 1040, 1041, 5471/5472, etc.) for accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Prepare more advanced or specialized returns as needed
Identify tax-saving opportunities and ensure proper tax positions
Research complex issues; document positions and ensure federal/state/local compliance
Maintain organized workpapers; communicate directly with clients on status and deliverables
Stay updated on new tax law changes and ensure timely implementation within the firm’s processes
Communicate proactively regarding deadlines, deliverables, tax positions, and planning opportunities
Explain complex tax matters in a client-friendly way
Build and maintain strong client relationships and ensure high-quality client service
Mentor and support staff, seniors, and interns in developing their technical and soft skills
Assist in developing and improving the firm’s internal processes, templates, and workflows
Help implement technology solutions that enhance efficiency and accuracy
Qualification
Required
Experience doing this role at a CPA firm is mandatory
Active Florida CPA license required
5+ years of recent public accounting tax experience with demonstrated experience reviewing returns and managing engagements
Proficiency with modern tax preparation software and Excel
Strong written/verbal communication
Preferred
Master's in Taxation (MST) strongly preferred
Master's in Accounting accepted with strong tax background
