Director of Procurement
Universal Instruments Corporation is seeking a Director of Procurement to provide strategic leadership and direction on material sourcing and purchasing. This role is critical for driving vendor performance improvement in delivery, quality, and cost, overseeing a team of 10 to 15 people while reporting to the Vice President of Supply Chain.

Responsibilities
Develop and lead materials strategies and oversees full-cycle materials management processes from sourcing to purchasing and supplier relationship management
Champion initiatives that enhance material sourcing strategies, reduce costs, support production and improve high quality productivity and on time delivery
Drives organizational alignment with regulatory requirements, corporate objectives, customer expectations, and continuous improvement
Lead key transformation initiatives including digitalization, supplier collaboration, and inventory optimization in collaboration with Planning and Quality management
Exemplify lean principles and operational excellence throughout the materials function
Build and mentor a high-performing team across sourcing and purchasing, while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
Cultivate and maintain strong supplier partnerships ensuring quality, reliability, and risk management
Carry out responsibilities in accordance with UIC policies and applicable State and Federal laws, including interviewing, hiring, training employees, planning, assigning, directing work and appraising performance
Interpret company policies to employees and enforces all safety regulations
Implement cross-training activities and plans for employees under their direction with specific attention toward the development of a highly flexible workforce
Establish and implement team/individual objectives aligned with strategic goals, including the measurement and documentation of the progress of each employee towards established goals
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or related field of study
10+ years of experience in manufacturing operations with extensive background in sourcing, vendor negotiation, and commodity management
5+ years of relevant leadership experience in procurement
Proficient in industry standard MRP/MM systems such as SAP, data analytics, and presentation tools
Excellent cross-departmental communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively
