Responsibilities

Own delivery across all software and data domains, including mobile apps, backend services, data pipelines, analytics systems, and AI-enabled features
Lead and scale both Software Engineering and Data Science, with clear accountability for outcomes
Establish execution discipline, planning rigor, and predictable delivery
Ensure high standards across quality, reliability, security, and scalability
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of AI- and data-driven capabilities, from model development through production deployment and iteration
Ensure Data Science work is production-oriented and tightly integrated with engineering systems
Lead engineering efforts to productionize intelligence:
Inference pipelines
Experimentation frameworks
Data and feature infrastructure
Observability and performance monitoring
Ensure AI systems are scalable, measurable, and responsibly deployed
Move the organization from 'insight generation' to repeatable AI-powered product and growth impact
Partner closely with Product to:
Shape roadmap feasibility and sequencing
Translate intelligence into differentiated member value
Balance innovation with delivery realism
Partner closely with Marketing to:
Enable data-driven acquisition, retention, and lifecycle marketing
Support personalization, targeting, and measurement
Ensure analytics and intelligence directly inform go-to-market execution
Act as a thought partner on how engineering and data accelerate growth and engagement
Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering and data teams
Develop strong engineering and data leaders with ownership mindsets
Set clear expectations around accountability, quality, and outcomes
Foster a culture that values pragmatism, learning, and continuous improvement
Set and evolve the software and data architecture to support scale and intelligence
Make disciplined build/buy/partner decisions across AI tooling and infrastructure
Ensure data pipelines, experimentation systems, and deployment workflows support rapid iteration without compromising stability
Maintain strong technical credibility across software and data disciplines
Mature engineering processes without over-bureaucratizing
Improve estimation, dependency management, and delivery transparency
Implement metrics focused on outcomes (reliability, adoption, impact), not activity
Prepare the organization for increasing system and data complexity

Required

15+ years of software engineering experience, including senior leadership roles
Proven experience leading both software engineering and data science / analytics teams
Demonstrated success shipping AI- or ML-enabled product features
Experience partnering closely with Product and Marketing in growth-oriented environments
Background in consumer technology, mobile-first products, or data-driven platforms
Strong understanding of modern AI/ML concepts and their system implications
Experience productionizing models into consumer-facing or growth-driving systems
Familiarity with inference at scale
Familiarity with data pipelines and feature engineering
Familiarity with experimentation and causal measurement
Able to bridge research, engineering, and business impact
Hands-on, pragmatic, and decisive leadership style
Comfortable making tradeoffs and owning outcomes
Calm, high-judgment operator
Strong communicator with Product and Marketing counterparts
Low ego, high accountability
Deep grounding in modern software architectures
Experience with mobile platforms, cloud infrastructure, APIs, and data systems
Credible with senior engineers and data scientists
Able to go deep when needed without micromanaging
