Quality Assurance Technical Writer - Risk Management Division

The N.C. Department of Information Technology is seeking a Quality Assurance Technical Writer for the Office of the State Auditor. This role involves producing clear and accurate audit reports, developing risk documentation, and assisting with risk assessment activities.

Responsibilities

Draft, edit, and finalize audit reports across OSA’s four audit divisions
Attend weekly meetings with report writers to provide editorial guidance over drafts, ensure clarity, and uphold agency writing standards
Assist OSA’s Risk Management Division in developing documents, and enhancing internal control frameworks
Contribute to the preparation of OSA’s annual audit report, supporting research, drafting, and documentation efforts
Support the creation and tracking of key performance indicators and risk-related metrics
Attend OSA’s Risk Committee meetings

Required

Demonstrated ability to evaluate internal and external risks, analyze data, and translate complex findings into actionable written conclusions
Familiarity with Government Accountability Office (GAO) standards, risk‑based audit planning, and associated documentation requirements
Experience developing, tracking, and interpreting performance and risk metrics (e.g., KPIs, control effectiveness measures)
A bachelor's degree with 12 semester hours in accounting from an appropriately accredited institution and 2 years of experience in auditing/accounting or program evaluation
An equivalent combination of education and experience
