Client Services Controller
Confidential is seeking a Controller for their restaurant and fine dining clients. This senior leadership role is responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring GAAP compliance, and leading a high-performing accounting team.
Responsibilities
Own month-end close, balance sheet management, and financial reporting for restaurant and fine dining clients
Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial statements and reconciliations
Serve as the primary accounting and financial contact for clients, ensuring clear communication and on-time deliverables
Provide technical accounting guidance related to hospitality-specific areas including revenue recognition, labor, payroll, inventory, COGS, and margins
Lead onboarding and accounting clean-up for new restaurant clients
Establish, maintain, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
Oversee federal, state, and local tax compliance including sales & use tax, payroll tax, and other hospitality-related filings
Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency
Analyze financial performance and provide insights to support client decision-making
Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team
Ensure appropriate staffing, training, and accountability to meet client and internal deadlines
Foster a culture of ownership, quality, and client service excellence
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
7+ years of public accounting and/or private industry experience
Prior management experience required; public accounting manager experience acceptable
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reporting
Experience with hospitality-related taxes (sales & use, payroll, property)
Excellent leadership, communication, and client management skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and drive results
Preferred
CPA strongly preferred
Restaurant or fine dining industry experience strongly preferred, including multi-unit operations
