The selected incumbents will be responsible for supervising the workflow for maintenance and repair of gas mains and services, and the installation of gas lines including valves and fittings.

Responsibilities
Supervising and training one (1) individual the proper procedures for investigating and grading gas leaks
Responding to gas leak calls
Responding to and completing work orders and gas leak tickets in a timely manner
Decision making to include shutting down gas mains to allow assigned contractor crew can make repairs as needed
Ensuring assigned Gas Maintenance Pipeline Technician completes all Operation Qualification tasks
Qualification
Required
High School Diploma or GED
Four years of experience in natural gas/trades
An equivalent combination of training and experience (as approved by the department) may be used to meet the minimum qualifications of the classification
A valid Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record
A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Driver's License within 30 days of hire
A valid Commonwealth of Virginia Commercial Driver's License
Considerable knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
Considerable knowledge of GIS mapping
Considerable knowledge of Natural gas pipeline repair, tapping, and shutdown
Considerable knowledge of leak detection equipment and City of Richmond Rules and Standards
Demonstrated skills in oral and written communication
Demonstrated skills in customer service
Demonstrated skills in detecting leaks
Demonstrated skills in disseminating information to first responders
Demonstrated skills in reading comprehension
Demonstrated ability to supervise
Demonstrated ability to prioritize
Demonstrated ability to problem-solve
Demonstrated ability to establish goals and objectives
Demonstrated ability to operate equipment and tools related to assignment
Preferred
Formal or specialized training that is equivalent to one (1) year of college education
Possess at least three (3) years of experience in plumbing, installing, or repairing gas mains and services
