IDD Incident Manager

The Incident Manager is responsible for managing incidents of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with regulations to protect those in care. Responsibilities
Receive and review reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adults. Determine case priority and response time based on risk level and state regulations. Conduct initial safety assessments to identify immediate dangers. Notifications and Escalations: Ensure all required notifications are completed and escalate issues as necessary to leadership and external authorities
Interview alleged victims, caregivers, witnesses, and alleged perpetrators. Gather and document evidence, including photographs, statements, and records. Evaluate physical, emotional, environmental, and financial risk factors. Conduct home visits and on‑‑site investigations as needed
Maintain detailed, accurate case notes and investigative reports. Document findings in accordance with AbleLight policies and state regulations. Prepare reports that meet all regulatory requirements and may be used in legal proceedings
Work closely with all internal and external stakeholders making referrals as required
Develop and implement safety plans for vulnerable adults. Provide emergency interventions when necessary. Work with operations to ensure appropriate temporary shelter, medical care, or protective orders when required
Monitor client safety and service effectiveness. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings. Close cases once safety and service goals are met
Ensure thorough follow-up on incidents, track trends, and identify systemic issues to mitigate future risks. Prepare regular reports to leadership on incident trends, resolution effectiveness, and compliance with state laws. Assist in the development and implementation of abuse prevention and mandatory reporting training
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field, or equivalent experience
Experience in social services, investigations, and/or case management
Social work principles and crisis intervention techniques
State APS statutes, rules, and policies
Signs of physical, emotional, and financial abuse
Community resources and service systems
Interviewing and evidence‑gathering
Critical thinking and independent judgment
De‑escalation and crisis management
Strong written and verbal communication
Time management and organization
Work with vulnerable adults experiencing trauma or cognitive impairment
Collaborating with multidisciplinary partners
